Tuscany Wine Tour – Activities
On your Tuscany Wine Day Tour you will visit the ancient town of San Gimignano and the little hamlet of Bolgheri in Castagneto Carducci. They are both famous for their history and architecture, but also for being the home of two of Italy’s finest wines. On the route that will take you from San Gimignano to Bolgheri you will stop to experience one of the most exciting moments of the day: a visit to Maestro Andrea Bocelli’s hometown, Lajatico. Here, guided by members of the Bocelli family, you will taste their wines, walk through their vineyards and learn more about the life of the world’s most famous Italian tenor.
Detailed itinerary
Pick-up, San Gimignano Visit and Wine Tasting
Your Tuscany Wine Day Tour begins when a private English-speaking driver comes to collect you from your custom accommodation in Tuscany and take you to the first stop on this experience. Crossing the Tuscan countryside, where the green shades of the hills caress the blue of the sky, you will reach San Gimignano, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its medieval architecture, characterized by the presence of 14 towers, an ancient symbol of wealth and power. Here you will taste the first wine of the day, a world-famous white: Vernaccia.
Lajatico, Bocelli Family Vineyards and Wine Tasting at Officine Bocelli Restaurant
In less than an hour, you will arrive in Lajatico, the hometown of Maestro Andrea Bocelli. If in San Gimignano your gaze was directed upward looking for the tallest tower, in Lajatico you will be able to enjoy the view of the rolling Tuscan hills, where the Bocelli Farmhouse is located. Another wine lesson awaits you: in fact, you will stroll through the Bocelli Family vineyards where you can discover the history of their wine production and the flavor of Sangiovese wine. Members of the Bocelli family will then welcome you to the Officine Bocelli Restaurant where you will have the opportunity to participate in a delightful wine tasting. They will share with you the family’s history and their on-site production which includes, in addition to wine, also honey, oil, and organic cosmetics.
Bocelli Museum and Lunch at Officine Bocelli Restaurant
After the tasting session, you will have the chance to admire the lifetime achievements of Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli through the photos, awards and stage costumes that you will find at the Bocelli Museum, located on the first floor of Officine Bocelli.
The several glasses of wine will surely make you hungry, so before you leave for the last leg of your tour you will be served a scrumptious three-course Tuscan meal, including a pasta dish, a meat course, dessert and, of course, Italian coffee.
Bolgheri, Wine Tasting and Drop-off
To end the day on a high note, you will be chauffeured to the small village of Bolgheri, renowned for producing the delicious Sassicaia, one of the Super Tuscan wines. This sumptuous red wine is named after the stony soil where the vines grow, and you cannot leave Tuscany without tasting it. Therefore, you will be invited to another winery to taste more flavors of Tuscan wines before your private driver takes you back to your accommodation in Tuscany.
